We were given an "object" prompt in class, with the three objects being a motorcycle, a jackhammer, and a lens.
Another day on the job. That's how it started, anyway. It was midway through the morning that day in June, and I was driving around, patrolling the town. Not much ever happened, so often I made myself hate my job by pulling over drivers for random minor violations.
I'll never forget what happened as I neared a construction site in my police car. The sound of jackhammers shrouded most noise, but at once was silenced. "Hey guys!" one worker shouted. "Check this out, I found something!" His colleagues approached his site, and then a pillar of flame erupted from the ground, incinerating the worker. Dark, chilling laughter pierced my ears followed by the revving of an engine as a black motorcycle jumped from the fire. Its rider: a black-armored human-shaped being with burning red eyes shrouded by a black hooded cloak, wielding a huge obsidian-colored great axe.
The rider landed and looked around. "At last, I've returned!" he bellowed in a strange, darkly distorted voice. I was stricken with awe and fear, but I had a job to do. I grabbed my handgun and burst from the car, pointing my firearm at the demon.
"Freeze!" I shouted. The dark being only laughed. He revved the motorcycle, and I took a shot, only for the bullet to be deflected with a dull sound. The demon then sped away, faster than any motorcycle I had ever seen. "Shit," I exclaimed. At least something was finally happening in this town.
** I might get back to this in a later entry. I realized halfway through that the motorcycle-riding demon may be an unintended ripoff of Ghost Rider, which I never actually saw... all in good fun, right? **
