Last class we were given a writing prompt: "What's the strangest thing you've done or dreamed?"
I'm not too sure what the strangEST thing I've done or dreamed would be, but I figured I'd write about a few particularly strange experiences.
Several dreams I've had have taken place in malls, which I find pretty strange as I don't particularly enjoy going to malls in real life. In one dream that I remember, a mall had been taken over by a hostile armed squad, and my real-life best friend and I were making our way through the mall in order to save kittens that the squad had taken hostage. My most vivid memory of the dream is being in an elevator going to the top floor of the mall, where the kittens were being held by the bosses of the hostile squad. I don't remember reaching the top level - hopefully we were able to rescue the poor kittens.
Another dream that took place in a mall involved a particularly strange detail: I was a conjoined/siamese twin with my sister, having one body with two heads. I'm not too sure why this was the case in the dream, but it was actually the second dream I've had in which we were that way; I'll get to the other below. Anyway, in this aforementioned dream the mall we were in was being destroyed by a rampaging giant worm, and we found out that we were the only ones able to stop the monster, somehow because of our condition. We turned out to be able to fly, and I remember battling the worm and avoiding its attacks, but not whether we were victorious.
The other dream I've had in which my sister and I were conjoined/siamese twins was years ago: we were casually walking around the campus of Drexel University in Philadelphia, where I actually transferred from to Ramapo. We entered my old residence hall and passed through the gate, saying "hi" to the desk attendant who I often talked to. I don't remember many other details, but in both of these dreams I remember how odd it felt for half of my body to be controlled by someone else.
Outside of dreams, the only strange thing I've done in real life that comes to mind was when my friends and I took an unconventional way back from the Universal park in Orlando to our hotel. I'm not too sure why, but exiting the park that night we walked past the usual exit, onward to a parking garage. We found our way out of the garage, but there were no stairs in sight, so we jumped down three descending platforms (I'm not sure what else to call them) to the ground, where we ran across the street for lack of a crosswalk or traffic signal. This whole experience was pretty needless but I still find it kind of funny that it happened. Also, dropping down those "platforms" involved probably falling the longest distance I ever have, not like that's saying much.
Remembering the aforementioned dreams, I've realized that expanding on the first two might make for interesting and fun short-short stories. No promises, but if I'm at a loss for what to write about any time soon I might consider these ideas.
