I've made one change to the story: the protagonists - Aesiri, Dairen, and their allies - will be part of the human-led Alliance. Aesiri, Dairen, Dairen's brother Heian, and Aesiri's sister Kari will be members of the Draenei race. Assuming a reader of this journal doesn't know who the Alliance, Horde, or Draenei are: detailed character profiles (to be posted in this journal?) and the story itself will clarify these details.
- Aesiri
- The protagonist: A young Draenei woman, and a prodigious frost-mage
- "Young" is relative; Draenei usually live for thousands of years
- "Closure" to be from her point of view, mostly if not entirely
- Lover of Dairen, older sister of Kari
- Suffered losses of her mentor/teacher and her father at the hands of corrupted Orcs shortly before the first great war (27 years before the story)
- Met Dairen as an escort from her destroyed mage-school to the Draenei city-ship Exodar
- Quiet and soft-spoken - often lets Dairen and Kari talk for her. Not that confident, evident in her speech and how she carries herself casually
- Thoughtful and very caring of her friends; would give her life for them
- Light gray-blue skin, medium-long dark blue (almost black) hair, faintly glowing light blue eyes. Voluptuous build - which Aesiri normally does not flaunt in the least - but not far from the average of a Draenei woman. Wears red and gray or blue and gold Northrend battle-mage robes while adventuring, and dark-colored clothing casually.
- Saved by Heian in an encounter with the Lich King, at the cost of his life
- Traumatic for Aesiri; she blames herself for most of the story
- Note: Not trying to make her a "damsel in distress" stereotype - she can fend for herself but is attacked off-guard by the powerful Lich King
- Dairen
- Young Draenei man, and a mighty paladin
- Lover of Aesiri, younger brother of Heian
- Trained in the ways of the Holy Light and in battle from adolescence
- Escorted Aesiri and her fellow mage-students from their destroyed mage-school to Exodar
- Comforted Aesiri when she learned of her father's death
- Charismatic, with a rational sense of justice; in rare cases, emotions will cloud his judgment
- Gray-blue skin, medium-long dark greenish-blue hair, faintly glowing light blue eyes. Athletic build, honed through training and combat. Wears crystalline Draenic armor or gray and gold armor while adventuring
- Tries to save Aesiri in an encounter by the Lich King, but stopped by Heian, who sacrifices himself to save them
- Heian
- Young Draenei man and paladin; killed by the Lich King Arthas and risen as a "death knight"
- Older brother of Dairen
- Trained in the Light and battle in life; kept knowledge but lost connection to the Light in death
- Granted mastery over unholy frost as a death knight
- Very rational, in life and undeath. Cares for his close friends, but not many others.
- In undeath, becomes cold and seemingly uncaring
- Gray-blue skin, medium-long blue hair, and faintly glowing light blue eyes in life. In undeath, skin pales, hair turns to silver, and eyes coldly glow. Wore crystalline Draenic armor while adventuring in life; in death, wears dark Saronite armor
- In an encounter with the Lich King, sacrifices himself to save Aesiri and Dairen
These three characters are the main heroes. I have several secondary characters in mind: Aesiri's sister Kari and rival Anneke, among other allies in the Alliance (some of which will be based on my friends' Warcraft characters). The Lich King will not be the central antagonist, as he will have been defeated by the time of most of the story; I'm working on other foes. As I've said before, I should take some free time to brainstorm for this story, as I've been looking forward to giving "life" to these characters for some time, and have enjoyed writing shorter fan-fictions in the past. I hope to post ideas here as well.
